Making strides in women's health and empowerment

USEA is collaborating with MildCares (GynoCup), in a CSR funded project by National Informatics Centre Services Inc (NICSI), Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre, IIT Kanpur and Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Meerut. Under the CSR initiative, “Switch to Cup” free GynoCup (menstrual cups) were distributed to women at Govt. School, Aminabad urf Bada Gaon, Macchra Block, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on 22th November 2023.
The initiative, under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission, aimed at enhancing women’s health and well-being. NRLM Meerut Deputy Commissioner Mr. Babban Rai, inaugurated the session focusing on women’s hygiene.
Mr. Sandeep Vyas, CEO-founder and Mrs. Rachna Vyas Co-founder of Mildcares emphasized the benefits of menstrual cups over sanitary napkins. Dr. Shikha Dhawan, Senior Advisor Program and Partnerships, USEA interacted with the rural women and discussed basics of menstrual health. The students of Parivartan Group-Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Pharmacy Department, MIET Meerut presented a skit on “Hichak” to create awareness on Mensuration for behavior change, dispelling stigma and promoting women’s acceptance of their health needs.

One of the campaign’s core objectives is to challenge the entrenched social stigma surrounding menstruation. Through awareness initiatives and educational programs, “Switch2Cup” seeks to dispel myths and taboos that hinder open conversations about menstrual health.

At the heart of the “Switch2Cup” campaign lies the advocacy for menstrual cups as an innovative and sustainable solution. Menstrual cups offer a host of benefits, including reduced environmental impact, greater comfort, and longer-lasting protection compared to traditional pads. By promoting the use of menstrual cups, Mild Cares aims to empower women to make informed choices about their menstrual health and contribute to a cleaner planet.
Campaign Launch and Partnerships
The official launch of the “Switch2Cup” campaign was done in collaboration with USEA, The National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), Government of Uttar Pradesh, MIET Group of Institutions and with funding support from the National Informatics Centre Services Inc. (NICSI), the campaign aims to provide free GynoCup menstrual cups to Self Help Groups (SHGs) and females in need. This partnership underlines the commitment to driving positive change at the grassroots level.
